I love your smile.

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

Your eyes are magic!

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

Hold me, kiss me.

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

Without you I’m lost.

I was recently asked how to say “Will you marry me?” in ASL. I hope this means someone is getting engaged soon…

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

“My heart is on fire for you.”

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

I miss you.

This phrase really hits home for me lately, because there are so many people I miss right now.

Sorry I have been slacking the last few weeks and haven’t posted anything. Today I am posting 2 phrases to make up for it. Here is a phrase that might be the first nice thing you ever say to someone:

Nice to meet you.

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

How are you?

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

Compliments! I will be posting many of those in weeks to come. Here’s the first of many:

Your hair looks nice!

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

So I think I am going to post these phrases in video form…it will be easier than trying to convey the motions in still photos. Here’s a new phrase: You are beautiful!

First phrase of the year.

Hi everyone! I’d like to give you a little introduction to what this space is going to be all about. Essentially, I will be posting one phrase per week in ASL. Part of the fun is that I am just learning this language. As suggested by the name, Sign Language for Lovers, I will only be posting loving phrases. The reason for this is that I was wondering what it would be like to only know how to say loving things in a language. Though realistically I know this would limit communication, and though I certainly plan to learn all I can in ASL, I thought at least for now I will allow this notion to inspire a project such as this.

So now for the first phrase…very, very basic, and you may already know it. But I think since it is the most basic of all loving things you could say to someone, it seems fitting to post it first:

I love you!
